Dellbrook | JKS completed the new Alma del Mar Charter School in New Bedford, MA. The school previously occupied a 20,000 SF single story (circa 1918) school building on the Madeira Avenue site in New Bedford. The new 43,000 SF facility provides a modern learning environment for students with shared multi-use spaces, and brightly-colored, light-filled classrooms. Construction also included multiple spaces that accommodate a wide range of uses within the building. The gymnasium and cafeteria, which sit next to each other, can be opened up to create a large space for both school and community use. Exterior playing fields and parking lot were also constructed. The new building was constructed on the vacant east section of the school’s site. Once the new building was complete, the old building was demolished.
