VietAid
The VietAid project consisted of redeveloping two vacant lots in Dorchester for the construction of a new 51,906 GSF, four story, wood framed, mixed use building with 41 residential apartments. This mixed-use project houses affordable units for households with incomes at or below 60% of Area Median Income (AMI), with eleven units affordable to households at or below 30% of AMI. The 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail space is being leased to the Dorchester Community Food Coop—a grassroots initiative to build a community and worker-owned grocery store that makes healthy food accessible and advances economic opportunity through neighborhood engagement. Construction also included basement level parking for 22 spaces. The complicated urban site required the removal of 700 yards of “pudding stone” ledge. Additionally, the structure is Enterprise Green Communities Certified.
