Falmouth Hospital Women’s Imaging
J.K. Scanlan Company, LLC provided preconstruction and design build construction services for Falmouth Hospital Women’s Imaging project. Cape Cod Healthcare contracted J.K. Scanlan Company, LLC and JACA architects with some very aggressive project goals. The most significant was the request by Cape Cod Healthcare of assembling DPH Part 1 submission documents with four weeks of being engaged in the project. JKS along with JACA architects sat with the entire project team and established a preconstruction schedule that included the scheduling of two user/design meetings each week. All parities were assigned weekly design development tasks to be explored outside of the user meetings. This aided in the efficiency of an accelerated process yet a very thoughtful design. JKS contracted with the individual MEP contractors to design-build these systems. Because of the design build approach once the schematic design was complete the MEP team was able to release procurement for all long lead time items and ensure construction could commence once permit was in hand.
This project consisted of select upgrades to the MEP infrastructure systems to the building as the existing systems would not enable us to meet DPH design criteria. The project scope included all major trades in the fit out of the 7,000 SF suite. The success of the project and delivery method can be measured by the fact that the project met the aggressive schedule, budget goals and with no project change orders issued.
