Radiation Therapy Expansion at Falmouth Hospital – Clark Cancer Center
J.K. Scanlan Co., Inc. was contracted to build a new radiation therapy wing at Falmouth Hospital as a MEP Design/Build effort. The project included major renovations to the existing medical office building in order to house new radiation treatment equipment and all the supporting staff. Along with renovations, an addition was built to house the new Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine. This new state-of-the-art addition featured the LINAC suite, control room, new ambulance entrance, and supporting mechanical equipment. Another piece of radiation treatment equipment was added to an adjacent area within the hospital. This suite, which now houses a new CT Scan machine, includes the machine, control room, offices, exam rooms, and a new conference room.
Besides the LINAC addition, JKS also added a new two-story entrance lobby and elevator alongside the existing structure and included various landscaping and parking improvements to the surrounding area.
J.K. Scanlan, along with our design/build MEP team, performed all of this work in and around a fully functioning hospital without disturbing any of the existing systems. Special attention was paid to alternate and temporary patient access to the fully functioning parts of the hospital. Infection Control/Risk Assessment and Interim Life Safety Measures were developed, and carried out to ensure a continually safe environment for all patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
